It also provides call center assistance for filing returns.

Income Tax e-Filing 2.0 Web Portal

After the blackout period of the existing web portal of the Income Tax Department till June 6, the new e-filing portal – www.incometax.gov.in, called the e-filing 2.0 website, went live on June 7.

The new, income tax e-filing portal will offer a new online tax payment system in India with support for net banking, UPI, credit cards, and payment options like RTGS or NEFT.

In addition, the e-filing 2.0 system provides a user-friendly UI for Indian taxpayers to file their Income Tax Returns for quick refund issuance.

Plus, all interactions, uploads, or pending actions are displayed on the dashboard to help users quickly find what they’re looking for.

It also offers new ITR preparation software that asks interactive questions to help taxpayers file ITR Form 1, 4 (online and offline), and ITR 2 (offline). However, the support for the preparation of ITR 3, 5, 6, and 7 will soon reach the new portal.

Tax Filling website 2.0 Updates :

In addition, taxpayers will be able to update their profile and provide details about their income which will be used by the new portal to pre-file their ITR. Nevertheless, detailed pre-filing with salary income, interest, dividend, and capital gains will be available once the TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) and SFT (Details of Financial Transactions) details are uploaded by June 30.

In addition, there will also be a new call center feature that will help taxpayers in resolving their queries. The portal will also include detailed FAQs, user manuals, chatbots or live agents, and videos to help taxpayers file their ITRs.

Apart from the new e-filing 2.0 web portal, India’s finance ministry is also aiming to launch a mobile app for the same. The said app is expected to offer a similar tax-paying experience on the mobile platform and will reportedly be available for iOS and Android on June 18.
