SBI provides several ways to change the registered mobile number in SBI Account. Today in this article, I will tell you how to change a mobile number online or update it with a new number in your SBI account.

Register Mobile Number In SBI Account 

To change the mobile number registered with SBI, follow the steps given below:

  • Login to your Online SBI (https://retail.onlinesbi.com/retail/login.htm) account using login credentials.
  • Click on My Account & Profile and click on Profile option.
  • Click on the Personal Details link.
  • Enter your profile password. Now you will see your name, email id and registered mobile number.
  • Click on Change Mobile number -Domestic only (Through OTP/ATM/Contact Centre) link.
  • Now you will see three tabs ‘Create Request’, ‘Cancel Request’ and ‘Status’ with Personal Details-Mobile Number Update.
  • Click on the Create Request option and enter your new number.
  • Now a pop-up message (Verify and confirm your mobile number xxxxxxxxxx) will appear. Just click OK.
  • For mobile number update, you will see a new screen with three different methods:-
  • By OTP on both the Mobile Number
  • IRATA: Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM
  • Approval through Contact Centre

Here I will teach all three ways to update mobile numbers in SBI…

By OTP on both the Mobile Number

Old and New Mobile Number required to change and update your KYC.

  1. Select the option ‘By OTP on both the mobile number’.
  2. Click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
  3. In the next page select your account.
  4. You will be redirected to the State Bank of India ATM card validation screen. Where you will see the Active and Closed ATM card linked to your account.
  5. Select the Active ATM Card and click on the ‘Confirm’ button.
  6. In the next screen, the selected ATM card number will be displayed. Enter Card Details :- (Valid To / Expiry Date, Card Holder Name, PIN, Captcha)
  7. Select the Proceed button.
  8. After validation, OTP will be sent to your old and new mobile number along with the reference number.
  9. You have to send an SMS within 4 hours in the following format:- ACTIVATE <8 digit OTP value> <13 digit reference number> to 567676 (eg ACTIVATE 12345678 UM12051500123)
  10. After OTP and reference number verification, the mobile number in your SBI bank account will be changed and the new mobile number will be updated.

IRATA: Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM

  1. Select the option ‘IRATA: Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM’.
  2. Click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
  3. In the next page select your account.
  4. You will be redirected to the State Bank of India ATM card validation screen. Where you will see the Active and Closed ATM card linked to your account.
  5. Select the Active ATM Card and click on the ‘Confirm’ button.
  6. In the next screen, the selected ATM card number will be displayed. Enter Card Details :- (Valid To / Expiry Date, Card Holder Name, PIN, Captcha).
  7. Select the Proceed button.
  8. After validation, your new mobile number reference number will be sent.
  9. Go to any State Bank ATM, swipe your card, select ‘Services’ and enter your PIN.
  10. In the ATM screen, click on Others and select the Internet Banking Request Approval option. enter the 10 digit reference Number.
  11. And the mobile number will be updated in your SBI bank account.

Approval through Contact Center

  • Select the ‘Approval through Contact Centre’ option.
  • Select the ‘Proceed’ button.
  • In the next page select your account.
  • You will be redirected to the State Bank of India ATM card validation screen. Where you will see the Active and Closed ATM card linked to your account.
  • Select the Active ATM Card and click on the ‘Confirm’ button.
  • In the next screen, the selected ATM card number will be displayed. Enter Card Details :- (Valid To / Expiry Date, Card Holder Name, PIN, Captcha).
  • Click on the Proceed button.
  • After validation, your new mobile number reference number will be sent.
  • You will get a call from the bank on your new mobile number within 3 days. Please ask for reference number.
  • After verification, the mobile number of your SBI bank account will be changed.
